David Wilmot | Client Relations Director

David brings extensive experience in the field of wealth management and trust planning, with a strong understanding of the link between bespoke trust solutions and the client. He has extensive industry knowledge and a unique way of delivering the most complex of solutions to clients in a clear, transparent and coherent way.

In 2005 David started a career in financial services as a Stockbroker with Bristol based asset manager Hargreaves Lansdown, where he was responsible for executing equity trades on behalf of clients on the London Stock Exchange. Here he gained his Securities & Derivatives qualifications from the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investments, and his Financial Planning Certificate from the Chartered Insurance Institute.

With a young family and not wanting the inevitable move to London to pursue a career as a Stockbroker, David took a job as a Financial Adviser with Forester Life in their direct sales force. Here he was responsible for advising clients on a range of pensions, investments and life insurance products, gaining invaluable industry experience.

In 2010, David was headhunted to Barclays Bank, where he dealt with corporate, retail and Barclays Premier clients. Whilst at Barclays, he gained a profound working knowledge of trusts, their long-term tax efficient benefits, and provided Inheritance Tax solutions to many high net worth clients.

Barclays closed their financial planning arm in 2011, which allowed David to setup his own firm of Independent Financial Advisers, in partnership with Abdul. Having always looked for new and innovative solutions to assist clients in achieving their goals, David & Abdul sourced various tax efficient structures, which offered superior benefits to many mainstream policies available through the majority of IFA’s.

At Clifton Trustees, David oversees the smooth running of the business, and is responsible for sales and client relationships. He also develops partnerships with introducers, helping them with the technical aspects of trusts and growing their business.

David lives in Bristol and is married with a young son. He enjoys spending time with his family, socalising, Squash and Rugby (although as a spectator these days!). David also holds financial qualifications in Long Term Care Planning, Mortgage & Equity Release Advice, and a Diploma in Investment Planning.
